Surrounded by the Amasa Back, Hurrah Pass, Anticline, and Dead Horse Point and with the Colorado River running alongside, you’ve discovered Base Camp. A one of a kind wilderness lodge.
As Tom splits off from the group he's in a race against the coming darkness to get down Jackson Ladder. Reaching the side by side darkness has just arrived.
Yes it is. I took them over to the half bowl area and the other place where I found pottery shards but didn't have time to examine it before dark and we found more incredible stuff but I was so focused on looking for stuff I didn't take any pictures. I planned to head back this morning (Sunday) and a pretty good rain came up. I've got a whole in the roof above the office so I had to move trash cans around to deal with that until it dries up a little and I can get to town and get something to patch it.
All of us are wanting to return! Hope you can make a trip there Carol. I cannot go all the places Tom goes, but I can go to some, and the views from the porches and truck or jeep are grand too. Tom, is the area in pic 2 a dry river bed or scoured valley?
Cyn I plan to do just that. I am in love with the area already and all of Tom's entourage. So much to explore and contemplate. I hope to bring a grandkid or two along for the fun.
Looking down into Jackson Hole from Jackson Ladder. Jackson Hole was at one time a meander in the river. There is petrified wood back there that likely floated down and got beached and lots of gravel and smooth rocks.

I agree Cyn..An amazing life Tom leads. Puts my every day existence to shame. Jealous that you have seen the wonder of the area.
