I'm Lying (Again)

Tom spends an exhausting day cutting away at the large rock so he can get a neat picture of the Saddle (Airport Tower on your map) to the right and Deadhorse Point to the left.

Darkness Descends

The sunsets have moved to the south, the red rock turns dark early, and it's a cold quiet in the Canyonlands.

Favorite Spot

Linny and Tom spend Sunday hanging out at their favorite spot by disc golf hole #14. As disc golfers go by, Linny and Tom can see the AmasaBack, Anti Cline, Dead Horse Point, Thelma and Louise Point, Mission Impossible Two Point, the Saddle, Hurrah Pass and most of the road down, the slot canyons, Three Finger Canyons, the Colorado River, and Base Camp. Not bad.

Saturday With the Linster

"Linny want to ride ATV's today, or we could go to the river and watch the otters, or hike the slot canyons, or hike the lava flow to the top, or the bowl area or....."

"Tom, let's sleep in the sun and we'll just hang out on the front porch today."

Friday Hiking With Linny

Linny takes a break while hiking and waits for the school bus (ok, not really).

Break Time

On their last day hiking together before Tom goes to Salt Lake to pick up Linny and return to Base Camp, Kobae decides to take a break with Bishop looking after him before crossing the street.

Just Messing With Tom

Tom walked Kobae a few blocks away and then followed him just to see if he could find his way home. Twice Kobae walked within two houses of his home and then veered off to walk around the block again. Finally on the 3rd time he turned into the correct house after checking out several houses and sampling 20 or 30 front lawns.

Veterans Day

First, a thank you to those that have served, sometimes fought, and sometimes died for freedom. For those that have defended it, freedom has a taste that the protected will never know...

Some tortoises go this way, some go that way and some go......

Searching

In the river just below the lodge an otter searches for food along the river bank. (You're going to have to click on the picture to see it better.)

On The Road

While Tom is on the road for one more day looking for something to buy for his "real" job, no not professional tortoise guider, Kobae hangs out in good weather in San Diego while Base Camp expects it's first potential snow for the year.

This looks entertaining......hummmm, maybe we'll buy this.

Dinosaur Tracks

Tom had seen pictures of the turkey size dinosaur tracks on the west side of Hurrah but had never been able to find them. While sitting in the shade with Kobae he realizes he's looking at them where roughly 190 million years ago it appears to have been the path to a watering hole.

Hiking is Hiking

Kobae's hiking at Base Camp, goes to sleep, wakes up, he's in San Diego. Oh well. Hiking is hiking and plus, there's grass.
