Six Days

For six days 17 people explored the property and surrounding area. When they had something they thought might be special they'd rock saw it to take it out and make a caste of it.
At one location Jax and I were sitting in the shade of a 102 degree day. I told Jax they were looking for bones. Jax walked up the hill a little ways and then stared at me so I walked up to see what he had found.
It's Sunday morning and as some pack to leave others are cateloging all that they have found
The exploration has ended and it was a pleaure to have them here.

Geologist

17 of them showed up this week doing some exploration and some cutting occasionally. Very dedicated and all around good people. They don't ask for much. Here all week and they seem pretty happy just to have a bathroom and hiking down the creek bed to the river for a bath.
They'll be walking along exploring and someone will say "shark's tooth". I walk over there and there are four broken pieces of tiny bone if they were all put together they'd be the size of the nail on my small finger. They three or four of them will look at it and say "Yea, no doubt." Then someone will say "bone". Others will say "spine of a shark". Someone eise will say "dorsal fin I think" as another says "I think your right".
Then Jax who has joined us on the journey will look at me and say "lizard". I say "side blotched."

Hurrah

Lizard shedding on the front porch.
Several guests have ask me to drive them out the last couple weeks so Jax and I drive them to the bottom of the other side of Hurrah Pass. Jax does most of the driving and then we hike back.
Ran into a couple guys from San Juan County Roads who said they thought it would be within the next month or so they'd be out grading the road.

Sperm Count

Heather was here with the kids and while we were talking she said "You ever read Facebook?" I told her I don't. Heather takes portions of the blog and puts them on Facebook. I've never been on there. She said somebody posted that there was a survey or something similar where either people or raccoons had lower sperm counts when they ate too many hot dogs. Seemed like they were suggesting or indicating that the real or possible reason that the mother raccoons were having less babies was not my summation that they don't need to have very many babies anymore because nearly all the babies are surviving. But the real reason was low sperm count from the fathers.
Well riddle me this Batman. The only time of the year the male raccons show up is right after the babies are born. Both mom and dad will show up and escort them to the porch where there are six or seven hotdogs between them. Normally mom comes up and eats the hot dogs and then let's the babies come up. In this world mom has to survive. Is she doesn't, babies odds dominish considerably. After the first week or ten days I never see the fathers anymore. By this time mom is in charge and she brings the babies each evening. During the winter when the food supply should be at it's weakest raccoons hardly show up at all. By then they have learned how to eat on their own. We were cutting a trail from the boat ramp to the creek bed and I was surprised by all the raccoon tracks at the creek bed. Fish is their primary diet.
I don't see sperm count as an issue here.

Finally

The water depth has finally come down enouh to equal last year same time and we don't have much of a beach. Just some where the creek bed comes out next to the boat ramp. Guests are getting in and heading up river until they tire a little and then catching the current back and others come through on rentals from town and a boat picks them up later.
The more I look down into the area below the basket on five the more I see trails that aren't overgrown despite being under water during the two months of flood. I think the mountin lion spends more time down there than I thought and that accounts for the missing Hybrid who usually came from that direction also at night.
Jax and I did Land of the Skinny people with Kathryn a guests staying here.
Kobae came out to hike five days in a row.
Then he didn't come out for four days at all.

The Morning of Chicken Corner

Guests walkied from out by Chicken Corner that the side by side wouldn't start. Jesse and Jake took off to go get them or see if they could get the side by side going. Side by side wouldn't start so they brought the guests back. in the morning with family visiting Ze, Tiago (the mechanic) and I headed out with Jax of course early before it got hot.
Waling around the Chicken Corner trail was a bit disappointing on the cother side. There were four or five human poop sites with the toilet paper blowing in the wind.
Tour boat below as we headed back to the disabled side by side.
Tiage put a new battery in the broken side by side and it started right up.
I drove my side by side back and Ze and Tiago took the other one. A low flying plane, silver in color buzzed me flying just a few feet above me and coming up from behind. Ten minutes later it dived right in front of me on a road downhill so close I could read the numbers on the top of the plane wings. When I got back I saw the plane on the runway across the river. When I was over at The Ranch a month or so ago they said James had painted his plane silver and that's why I thought I hadn't seen it in awhile from red and white. When Ze and Tiago got back they said they got buzzed twice also. I emailed James Maybe and said two sets of my guests said they got buzzed by the plane that's over there. I figured that if he emailed me and said they were exaggerating then I would tell him it was me and I'm not exaggerating. He hasn't responded.
