San Diego Day

With San Diego days winding down before returning to Base Camp the boys take every opportunity to enjoy the weather. Most of the hike is spent waiting in the shade for the "slow one". But there are those water hole moments that make it worth it. Chewey and Bishop have a plan, and Kobae has a different one.

It Never Rains in So Cal

But today it is, so no hiking with the boys. Give a treat to both Bishop and Chewey and enjoy the intrigue as they spend the day hiding and stealing each other's. Bishop protects his, we're pretty sure we know where Chewey hid his and Kobae is solely focused on food.

Bath time

Temperature at Base Camp is getting in the 50's during the days. About ten more degrees before Kobae can return. As Tom and Kobae's days narrow in San Diego before the return to Base Camp, time for one more bath.

The Death of the Red Truck

On Wednesday night, in a driving rain, Bill returning to Base Camp in the Ford F350 hit some mud and went off the Moab side of Hurrah Pass. Bill survived and crawled out of the upside down truck through it's collapsed front window up to the road. Bill trudged the five miles to the lodge where he was able to Yahoo us what had happened. It took 4.5 hours for the Sheriff to reach him after I called to make sure he was ok. The truck is gone and Bill came close.

Bath Day

Not something Kobae enjoys.

The Walk Home

Kobae begins the day hanging out with Bishop and Chewey at the entrance to Mission Trails Park. Tom, Bishop, Chewey and Kobae's two mile walk home, takes five hours, but, Kobae made lots of friends on the way.

North and South Fortuna

Tom and the boys begin the climb up North and then South Fortuna. Chewey leads on the descent from North to ascent of South and the staircase down South on the return.
