Tom had three goals in mind for the off season. Explore the Amasa Back, climb up a rock area called Jay Leno to get to the top of the Kane Creek Anticline so he could explore the area above the mines, and travel beyond Chicken Corner to see if he can find a way down to the river and a way to connect the area behind Chicken Corner to the road on Lockhart Basin. As Tom rounds the corner in search of Anasazi history he sees how much he underestimated the size of the Amasa Back. Everything to the left of the river is on the Amasa Back and there's at least an equal distance to the right. He's going to have to hit the road earlier and stay later.
