Hanging from the Cottonwood tree is this moth sack. Just outside of it are the caterpillars who have so far emerged.

So thats what it was. I was wondering and no one told me an answer. There are 2 of them right?
There were two of them. All but gone now. There is an ant pile at the base of the tree and it took some of the ones right as they came to the bottom but probably about half made it out.
