Tom travels to the Pot Ash Overlook and can see Base Camp on the far side of the river. The first raft of the day departs the Pot Ash Boat Ramp. Tom passes through the Pot Ash ponds where blue dye is added to evaporate the water, leaving only the pot ash to be collected. Then Tom traverses underneath the Saddle and finally around to the other side, where he leaves the Pot Ash Road and joins the Shafer Trail.
