All day was cloudy but just before the sun set it broke through in a few places.

The Gates
Last year there were a couple days where I had to go down and reopen cattle gates that had been closed apparently by well meaning polite people that see a gate open and they close it. Eventually I wired the gates closed. Earlier this week I saw the cowboys and ask them once they were on the trail down Lockhart Basin to open up the gates and wire them open. However their track record is that they have never done that despite repeated requests so knowing it may be a really busy day when it happens again this year I'm going down today to make sure they all get wired and giving the Polaris a test drive at the same time.

Friday Morning
There is some power coming in to the converters but not like there should be on a cloud free sunny day. Time to clear out an area at the Breakfast at Tiffany's feeding places. Looks like a couple cloudy days coming up so would like to get the batteries back up to 100%. See if this helps.

Docs Day
Though I've done this at least a few hundred times this one means a lot. It's time to go to town, wire money, and sign the docs for the property next door to be part of Base Camp. Leisurely it's an hour to town but don't want to be late for this so I leave two hours before the closing. I get to where the canyon narrows going into town and the county has pulled a drainage pipe out and is replacing it. 45 minutes I sit. Still, got the wire and docs all done on time. Sometime time in the next day or so Last Hurrah becomes a part of Base Camp Adventure Lodge.

The One, That is Different
There have been four ringtails for a long time. During the summer a fifth showed up, younger, smaller, and goofier (if that's possible). She comes out at night and sometimes during the day. Runs all over the place, climbs into the tree, bites on to her tail, and then does circles around and around the tree limbs, as if someone were spinning a hula hoop on a stick. Lately she's looking much larger and it's the wrong time of the year for that. While many times the females will stock up on hotdogs I saw here eat three on Wednesday night and four more, this being the last, just prior to this video. She probably weighs two and a half pounds so yesterday I saw her eat nearly a pound of hotdogs. A third of her weight in 24 hours. Looking down between the walls of the cistern and the outside rock I saw wrappers to three energy bars in the corner.
