Surrounded by the Amasa Back, Hurrah Pass, Anticline, and Dead Horse Point and with the Colorado River running alongside, you’ve discovered Base Camp. A one of a kind wilderness lodge.
Somebody has been putting a gate across the trail to a popular overlook at Chicken Corner. Today Tom drives down and wires the gate open. If somebody wants to close it again it will take some time and effort to close it. Tom will be watching.
You imagine somebody comes to Moab, rents a side by side for a couple hundred a day, the dealer sends them Chicken Corner for the view and they get about half way there and some jackass has run fence across the road. They don't know any better so they think the place is closed off. Bit of a mystery. I've driven to Chicken Corner the last two times and I can't find anything strange going on. There is a site back in that direction with significant Indian artifacts so I'll check them. Then there's Lockhart Basin. That's 45 miles of Hell. I assume somebody is closing the gate to buy them more time back there for something not looked on favorably so I'm checking things most days.
