Red-winged Blackbirds
Tom had heard the chatter noise occasionally for years. Coming out of canyons and on top of mesas before but never knew what it was. He's kayaked down the river and seen huge flocks of black a mile or so in front of him nearly block out the sun but never saw them up close. One Red-winged blackbird has been eating with the songbirds for the last week. A few days ago he brought some friends and now Tiffanys, the eating place across from the front porch, has been taken over by the Red-wingeds. Unique compared to the songbirds Tom has yet to see one fight or one pushing for position or even any intimidation between them. They have driven the songbirds to the edge of the feeding area and Tom has begun spreading out the feed so it's not so condensed.
