Fun Drive Back to Base Camp

You Never Know

Three guys and a gal, show up on unicycles, after coming over Hurrah Pass, to play disc golf. During their round of golf, the weather changes for the bad, quickly. Five people, four unicycles, in a jeep, over Hurrah, in a near white out, with big horn running alongside the jeep.

He's Back

Visitor season is upon us. Time to bring in reinforcements. Tom leaves Monday afternoon for San Diego, loads up Kobae the security tortoise and drives right back. Wednesday morning, all is as it should be.

Guess Not

When Sunday evening came Bill and Tom retired thinking everybody on Sunday's violently windy river had been retrieved. When Monday morning came, guess not.

Sunday

Eight lost bikers, three lost vehicles, two kayaks stranded with us by high winds on the river, then four more, then two more in a canoe, and John walks around Chicken Corner.

Saturday

Jeeping at 6am, ATVing at 9am, again at 11am, again at 1:30pm, biking at 3pm, hiking at 4pm. The toys of Base Camp lay exhausted by the day as their riders retire to their rooms, while the sun bids good night with a fiery departure.

One of many things Tom enjoys at the lodge is the occasional nightly visits of the bats that roam the lodge. The last thing he expected was to walk into the new indoor soccer facility in Cincinnati and see such a fellow hanging from the ceiling in the main lobby, but there he is. Tom winds up in Cincinnati for a few days working at the new Let's Play facility. Not missing the unsocial geese on the island by the lodge and now in the parking lot at Wall2Wall.
