Newsweek Magazine

Got an email from Newsweek Magazine saying Base Camp was voted in the top ten nationally of best disc golf courses. It shows up 5th, or first if you see the list where they put it in alphabetical order. Pretty sure the picture isn't from here as it shows a bunch of trees by the basket. This isn't the picture.
Four or five months ago I woke up one morning and had a bunch of bites or stings on the right side of my stomach. They hurt quite a bit and were all swollen. In time they turned into scabs and whenever I would reach for something they would tear off.
Eventually the right side of my stomach swelled up and getting out of the shower last week I saw myself in the mirror and started thinking it's starting to look like a permanent disfigurement and not going away. So last week or two in town I went to Urgent Care at the hospital. They took some Xrays and some scans and don't know what it si. They referred me to somebody else where they did a cat scan and I haven't heard back from anybody so assuming no one seems to think it's serious.
I push on my stomach and I can move it around. I don't think it hurts or it's hurt for so long I don't notice it anymore. Anyway feeling better and Jax and I are picking up the distance of our hikes in the evenings.

Volkswagon Oil Pan

Somewhere coming down Hurrah a guy coming out to play disc in a Volkswagon shed his oil pan and the last of the oil finished up on my driveway.

Hurrah Pass

In the past when the bolts and screws would eventually fall out of the Hurrah Pass sign the sign would fall over or be hanging by a thread and someone would steal it. Then people show up and ask me where Hurrah Pass is even though they just drove over it. So now Teresa, myself, and this time Tim, when we go to town we put it back together best we can before it disappears again.
Up above these two formations use to be called "Two Trains". However years ago in a lightning storm right as I was driving up the pass I saw lightning hit the train on the right and take off the chimneys. So, one train now I guess.

Beach

The beach has showed up at the boat ramp, It's skinny but nice and in the shade most of the mornings. Jax and I went and checked the secret beach figuring it would still be muddy but it's not. It's nice. We hang out at one beach or the other occasionally as it's 20 degrees cooler down at the river.

Slow

It's slow at the property. Teresa is in New York for the summer and Tim is in Salt Lake for awhile so it's just Jax and I and sometimes Kobae sleeps in he laundry room. Very few guests. For June and July numbers are down a bunch for each month and August looks the same. Moab is down a lot also. There is a fire hanging for about three weeks in the La Sal mountains east of town and because I'm in the same county I get alerts about which direction the fire is moving. I even get them on the walkie talkie. Jax got a haircut last week and 10 or so emergency vehicles passed us heading into the mountains. Can smell the smoke coming through the air conditioners.

Stuff

Teresa and I did a rescue a week or so ago. First in awhile.
When it's hot Jax and I try to hike in the shade. We'll drive over to the Wind Caves and hike on the east side where it's shady in the evenings.
Some times we'll drive up to Hurrah Pass and hike down and up the other side. About four miles. On this trip we ran across a mother and baby big horn sheep. When they got bored they ran straight up the cliff wall.
Beach is coming back.
