Rock Slide
Two Saturdays ago, Base Camp witnessed a hard rain with lightning and thunder. In one instance everyone heard thunder coming from the east, but never saw lightning. Sunday morning while hiking with Women Camp Linny and Tom came over the top from Disc Golf #14 to #15 and the trail was wiped out from a massive rock slide. Now you slip between these two boulders which weren't there the day before to get from #14 to #15. The large boulders that collapsed are the same two that Linny and Tom hiked to the top of a few months before.

The Polite Kobae
For the first time all year, Kobae leaves the property on a hike. On the return to the lodge, Kobae politely holds up for a fellow reptile to cross the trail.

Game Changer
Base Camp is remarkable for so many reasons. You can hike, bike, climb, kayak, ATV, dirt bike, jeep, track, see all sorts of wildlife on the ground, aerial, and in the water, find dinosaur footprints, fossils forever, all sort of rock and petrified material and not have to go more than a few hundred feet. Then there is the night sky. The Milky Way is stunning and the moon this night so bright your shadow was as strong as if it were daylight, there were bats, and birds singing, crickets chirping an incredible chorus of soft sound all night. While the stars have been breathtaking most nights, today guests and friends of Base Camp, Dick and Becky, spent the night setting up for Tom, a game changer. We really haven't seen anything yet. What a night.

Stairway to Heaven
Upon returning to Base Camp Tom finds Laurie and Jaime have already visited Catacomb Rock and are ready for some hiking. Stairway fell victim to a rock fall last month and is a bit more difficult to climb than it was already. Laurie and Jaime photograph their climb to the top and Hurrah Pass captured from just above Stairway to Heaven.

No Sign
Nicole, Brad, Linny, and Tom head east traveling through Land of the Skinny People and Thousand Eyes searching for any sign of Pinto, Louise, and if we ever see them again, got to give the new ewe a name. They have not been seen since the day after Tom released them two and a half weeks ago. Looking south on ATV's the search party is caught up in a sand storm at Catacomb Rock.

Wednesday
With only a few hours until Tom leaves to drive to Salt Lake and pick up his best friend in the whole world, Kobae chows down (as always), Tom lifts the cistern lid to get some water for the trees and plants and finds visitors hanging out on a 90 degree day with their own little swimming hole and the Desert Willow that just a few days ago had it's first bloom today has exploded in color allowing for resumption of bee and hummingbird exchanges.
