Anti Cline

Sometimes people set on the front porch for hours taking pictures of the Anti Cline as it changes colors so many times during the day. Last evening while hiking above the lodge these three pictures were taken within 30 to 45 minutes of each other.

Everything is Backward

Most tortoise would walk the easy trail and rest in the shade of the underbrush. But, this is Kobae. Everything is backward. Nice jeep tire prints. You sure this is the best place to stretch out and take a break?

Wednesday Morning

As Kobae, Chewey, and Tom begin their morning hike, a Canyonlands cloud formation watches over them.

The rains came, the mud came, engulfing all about it. The mud in time turned to stone and the trees in the mud, also to stone, as pictured.

Still Rising

The island is flooded with only the tops of trees and bushes above water. The area where Base Camp folk board boats for the river is under water. As a special surprise, there's snow on Hurrah this morning.

It's Raining

The island five weeks ago, and the island today.

The River is a Rising

Not many folk live on the river, but those that do, are concerned. Snow melt is at a record pace and coming this way. Tangri La's boat ramp center right across the river recently, and this morning, it's gone.

I'm Lying

Tom buys all the orange glow paint from Walker Hardware in Moab and gives a quick paint job to the top of the Anti Cline. Nice work Tom.

Let's Play Managers Meetings Day Three

Security

As day two of the Let's Play Managers Meeting unfolds Kobae checks the disc golf course and even dead end canyons for any potential perimeter violations to Base Camp. Even a security tortoise needs a break to cool off occasionally.

They're Coming

Tom does maintenance on the Scorpa's in preparation for the Let's Play Managers arriving and Kobae eats his meal while watching with mild curiosity.

The Culprit

Something has left partially eaten bananas, apples, zucchini, and cucumber about. Let's follow the trail and see if we can identify the culprit.

River High

Generally there is but a trickle of water running down the left side of the island but not this year and the high water mark isn't until June 15th.

The Saddle

Across the Colorado River from Base Camp on maps it's referred to as Airport Tower. We've always called it "The Saddle". Three views of the saddle, in distance, reflection, and shadow.
