The famous Moab bicycle trail, Jackson Hole Loop, runs by Base Camp. On an ATV or Jeep it's an hour drive leading to Jacob's Ladder and the Amasa Back.

Mother of all Walks

Kobae takes Tom on the Mother of all Walks. When the wind kicks up and the rain starts, Kobae crawls into a bush to sleep for the night and refuses to move. Tom carries Kobae's 43 pounds, 1.2 miles back to the lodge.

Bill, Class Act

When Tom returned Bill had constructed a ramp for Kobae to the front porch and a hogan for Kobae to stay cool in. When Tom next visited the fallen cowboy marker, someone had cleaned it up and put a lariat on it. Bill, class act.
